At the time of writing, the criteria for requesting dates are as follows:

  • The applicant must be affiliated with at a Dutch university (contractual agreement), at a department that is a member of the ODISSEI consortium.
  • The applicant must briefly explain the need for access to the data.
  • A description of max. 150 words sufficient.
  • The purpose must describe which data the applicant wants to use.
  • Research objectives in the broad sense are permitted. However, the following must be taken into account:
  • The requested purpose may not deviate from the final application of the data.
  • Commercial and data extraction purposes are immediately rejected.

Upon approval, access to the data will initially be given for three months — (multiple) extensions are possible.

If the applicant wants to join an earlier application, only criteria 1 needs to be met.

The Data Board also assesses the application procedure, with the aim of processing it within two weeks.

At the time of writing, the application process consists of:

  • Applicant contacts via e-mail: firmbackbone@uu.nl
  • The secretary explains the procedure to the applicant.
  • The application criteria are discussed and it is explained how the applicant will have access to the data. The applicant is also reminded to apply separately for a budget from SURF in order to be able to use the environment.
  • Upon successful assessment of the data request, the secretary will send the terms of use and privacy statement for signature. At the same time, the secretary and the data manager set up the secure environment with the requested FBB data and for a period of three months.
  • The secretary links the applicant’s SURF budget to the environment upon approval.
  • The applicant can start.

The Data Board takes decisions on data requests unanimously. Exceptions to this are simple data requests, which can be handled by the secretary. All adjustments to the application criteria and application procedure will be approved by unanimous decision.
